With over thirty years on the market, the Suzuki Vitara has proven to be a beloved sports utility vehicle for everyone.
Originally available in three engine options: 1.6-litre petrol and diesel units and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol "Boosterjet" engine, the most powerful engine in the range. The 2019 facelift saw the removal of the 1.6-litre diesel and petrol options from the range adding a turbocharged 1.0-litre petrol option instead, with the 1.4 Boosterjet being offered in two-wheel drive and four-wheel drive forms and a choice of automatic or manual gearbox.
Drivers enjoy the car's driving position and visibility, as well as the reasonable amount of front, back and boot space. The interior (pre-2019 facelift) has a solid feel although it has been called "utilitarian" - which does not sound like a bad quality for an SUV.
When buying a pre-owned Suzuki Vitara, remember that the car has probably spent most of its time in the urban jungle, so check bodywork for scuffs from tight parking spaces. If you are looking at the Allgrip four-wheel-drive versions, they will probably have been taken off road so make sure to check undersides of the car. Always inspect the interior for wear and tear and check that the seats still operate fully. Higher spec models will have alloy wheels which should be checked for pavement and pothole damage.
