Sedan

Essentially, a sedan (or saloon as it’s known in Britain) is a passenger car that is made in a three-box configuration: three “separate” compartments for engine, passengers, and cargo. Technically, A sedan is a car with a closed metal roof with the engine, passengers, and cargo in separate compartments and typical characteristics like a B-pillar between the front and rear windows to supports the roof; two rows of seating; a less steeply sloping roofline than a coupé, and a less sporting appearance. Perhaps it’s simpler to say that a sedan is a family car with a boot.  Ride-sharing and taxis account for a large percentage of sedan sales with models like Volkswagen Polo sedan, Toyota Corolla Quest and Nissan Almera topping new car sales, while in the pre-owned car market, BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class are tops.
