More About the ISUZU D-Max

In South Africa, D Max pick-ups were sold as the Isuzu KB bakkie; The KB has been one of SA's top-selling bakkies over the years and is known as a tough and sturdy pick-up. Isuzu has produced almost 25-million diesel engines in over 100 countries, a testament to the quality of the vehicle. The company prides itself on delivering reliability and value.

In the 1980s, Isuzu was the global industry leader in the field of direct-injection diesel engines for light trucks. They sealed their position in 1981 with a design that featured both high output and low fuel consumption; this finally made diesel engines more appealing for drivers of personal commercial vehicles.

In 2016, the bakkie got a much-needed update and the KB 300 double cab gained immense popularity for its driving comfort. It comfortably seats five adults, leaving plenty of space in the loading bin for luggage.

As of 2018, the KB Series is now called D-Max. Isuzu enthusiasts are queuing up to get behind the wheel of the 2022 update which features:

  • Greater use of high-tensile steel makes the body 20% more rigid.
  • Several improvements to the suspension, steering and braking systems.
  • An updated 4JJ1 3-litre turbo diesel delivering 140kW and 450Nm (up from 130kW and 380Nm).
  • An overhauled Isuzu D-Max 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine.
  • An incredible 4WD experience.
  • Redesigned interior design with a 23cm infotainment screen.
  • Whether you’re looking for a workhorse or a lifestyle vehicle, Isuzu single and double cabs for sale will prove a great option.
